MARIA E. ALMA - Executive Producer, "El Show de Luis
Jimenez" She also produced all concerts for SBS and received a plaque for producing the first tropical merengue concert to sell out Madison Square Garden. She was recognized a second time for producing and coordinating the sold-out El Concierto del Siglo for Suave/WPAT at MSG.. Alma later worked as an independent consultant to stations in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic, and then moved to Tampa, Florida where she excelled as an account executive and hosted a show called Pop/Rock Latino con Alma por Mega. In 1999, she joined Mega Broadcasting's Boston station where she became one of their top salespeople and earned a promotion to operations manager at the company's new Mega station in Lawrenceville, Mass. In a short period, Lawrenceville's revenues topped Boston's and Alma was promoted to General Sales Manager for both stations. After taking time off to spend time with her new baby, Alma returned to radio in May of 2001 at New York's WPAT-FM. She co-hosted and co-produced the successful “Hola New York” , that became the first Top Ten morning show in the station's history. In 2002, Alma moved to WPAT-FM's sister station, WSKQ-FM to executive produce their wildly successful morning show, "El Vacilón de la Mañana." Within a year of Alma's arrival, ratings grew by almost 50% from a 5.6 to an 8 share and the show became No. 1 in the New York market During her tenure, El Vacilón's internet audience grew to one million unique users per month and the show became syndicated in other markets including Orlando, Fla. and San Juan, Puerto Rico.. In 2004, Alma was an executive producer of "El Vacilón - The Movie" which showed in theaters for 8 weeks in a limited release in the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Dominican Republic. Aside from her extensive work in radio, Alma has a background in artist management, Event &concerts for major artist. Coordinating as well as film and television production. In 1990, she worked as a production assistant on the Dominican Republic location of Sidney Pollack's "Havana." From 1991 to 1992 she worked for Quartier Management in Key Biscayne, Fla. where she was an assistant and road manager for singer Angela Carrasco. From there, she worked as a freelance producer and assistant director for RTC Broadcasting and Chad Dominecis Production in Miami. While there she worked on EPKs for various recording artists, corporate presentations, and commercials. In 1994 she was executive producer of the movie "Havana Connection." Alma joined Univision broadcasting in 2007 as executive producer of "El Show de Luis Jimenez." |
